On Monday, May 17, at 8:00 and 10:00 PM, Lincoln Center's acclaimed American Songbook series presents "The Girly Show," a celebration of the music of Michael John LaChiusa.

Girls appearing in the star studded concert include Kate Shindle, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Maureen Moore, Luba Mason, Barbara Walsh, Carolee Carmello, Julia Murney, Sally Murphy, Michele Pawk, Mary Testa, Alice Playten, and Celia Keenan-Bolger.

The ladies, most vets of one of LaChiusa's works or another, will all be performing songs written by him for women, from such
critically acclaimed musicals as First Lady Suite, Hello Again, Marie Christine, The Wild Party, Little Fish, and Lovers and Friends.

LaChiusa descibes his talent as "a dream come true," because he's "been writing songs for these women over the years, and they're all coming together for one night, with many of them doing the songs that they originated."

The rehearsal process is going very well at the moment naturally, since most of the women aren't strangers to the songs that they'll be singing. When Lincoln Center approached him about presenting an evening of his work, "the Girly Show was one of the first things that came to mind. I love all the women that I'm working with, and it's great to get them all together."

In addition to songs from the previously listed shows, they'll be debuting some new material as well for what's bound to be a fun-filled evening.
