It's getting harder for many people in the Arts to feel creative and nurtured as an Artist, as modern culture seems to be celebrating quick disposable "stars." It's been said, New York City is not a place to find yourself as an Artist! In the past you could find cheap housing, cheap food, and cheap drinks. Cheap, is that too crude? I shall say affordable in order not to offend.
Now you must come already made, knowing who you are and what you want. There is no room for error. You can not afford it.
Then, walking in the Theatre district you walk by "On the Town" and "An American in Paris." A stranger says, "hey I have a free ticket a friend couldn't make it. Here take the ticket and enjoy the show." In an instant your life has been changed by " the kindness of a stranger," and better yet, you will are seeing a masterful Broadway show. And one of the reasons we have these two amazing shows on Broadway is because of an Angel named Michael A. Alden.
For spreading this type of magic for many years around the globe. Broadway Global is proud to name, a true humanitarian of the Arts, Mr. Michael A. Alden as Producer of the year 2015.
Michael had the immense honor of organizing a Broadway evening for the brave veterans and military heroes at "Ride to Recovery" where these men and women attended Porgy and Bess on Broadway and had the opportunity to interact with the cast after the show in an intimate talk back. For many of these healing heroes, this was their first Broadway show. Michael has also organized several special theatrical events for students all over the country. With an understanding that the arts can help the lives of others, Michael produced the charitable album "Rosey: The Imperfect Angel" featuring TV star Melissa Gilbert, album notes written by Academy Award winner Marlee Matlin, and Michael's own original composition performed/recorded by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. The purpose of this album is to express the importance of treating all people with kindness and acceptance and that there is beauty in imperfection. Past charity concerts produced by Mr. Alden also include The Project Creo Concert (raising money to send educators to "in need" communities around the world, and various holiday concerts for children's hospitals around the country including: St Jude's Children's Hospital, and the Mattel Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. Within the Broadway community, Michael volunteers his time and passion to various charities including: Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids, Broadway Barks, and he gives back to various independent theaters and non-profit theatrical organizations. With his effort to maintain accessible through social media, Michael has opened his door, heart, and experience to mentor those wanting to enter the entertainment industry. He also takes great pride in connecting artists with those who can help move their career forward. Michael was invited to lecture at the UCLA Entertainment Industry class as an effort to use his experience and lessons to help others with their own journey and dreams. As an actor, Michael has performed on the Broadway stage in the Irish Rep concerts: Something's Wonderful (featuring Tom Hanks, Shirley Jones), Oliver (featuring Brian Stokes Mitchell), Camelot (featuring Jeremy Irons), and Brigadoon. As a Rounder/Universal Recording Artist, Michael is part of the band 'Malibu Storm' and his song "Photograph" reached # 2 on the Billboard Chart. With a hit music video on CMT (Country Music Television), Michael has toured all over the world including several performances at the legendary Grand Ole Opry.
