After an absence of more than 30 years, Meryl Streep told reporters tonight, backstage after winning her Golden Globe Award that she is ready to return to Broadway. She told assembled press that "I don't have a plan for that, but I would like to. I always said when my children grew up and went to college, I could think about that. And, that happened this year, so I'm looking."

Meryl Streep picked up a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical for her role as Julia Child in 'Julie & Julia'.

Julie & Julia is an upcoming 2009 comedy-drama film, written and directed by Nora Ephron, depicting events in the life of famed chef Julia Child. Ephron's screenplay is adapted from two books: My Life in France, Child's autobiography, written with Alex Prud'homme, and a memoir by Julie Powell. In August 2002, Powell started documenting online her daily experiences cooking each of the 524 recipes in Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and she later began reworking that blog, The Julie/Julia Project, into a book, Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen (Little, Brown, 2005). The paperback was retitled Julie & Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously (Back Bay Books, 2006).

In the first major motion picture based on a blog, Meryl Streep portrays Julia Child, and Amy Adams appears as Julie Powell. The film is scheduled for August 7, 2009 release. Meryl Streep recently starred in the big screen adaptation of the hit Broadway play 'DOUBT' as the stern Sister Aloysius alongside her 'Julie & Julia co-star Amy Adams.

Streep was up for an Academy Award for her performance in The Devil Wears Prada. She is a two-time Oscar winner for Kramer vs. Kramer and Sophie's Choice. Other film credits include The Deer Hunter, Silkwood, Out of Africa, Postcards from The Edge, Heartburn, The Bridges of Madison Countyand Adaptation. She was last seen on screen as Donna in the film version of the Broadway hit Mamma Mia!. Her many theatre credits include Trelawney of the 'Wells,' The Taming of the Shrew, Happy End, The Cherry Orchard, The Seagull and Mother Courage (she starred in the latter two at the Delacorte Theatre).

Streep has received 15 Academy Award nominations and 23 Golden Globe nominations (winning six), more than any other person in film history. Her work has also earned her two Emmy Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Cannes Film Festival award, three New York Film Critics Circle Awards, four Grammy Award nominations, a BAFTA award, and a Tony Award nomination.

The 67th Golden Globe Awards is broadcast live on NBC from The Beverly Hilton. The awards ceremony will be seen in more than 160 countries worldwide and is one of the few awards ceremonies that span both television and motion picture achievements.
