Variety reports that Oscar-winning and Tony-nominated stage and screen powerhouse Meryl Streep will receive the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's annual Monte Cristo award for her distinguished contributions to theater. Streep will be presented the Monte Cristo award by actor and Yale School of Drama classmate Joe Grifasi on April 21, 2014 in New York City.

Streep has appeared on Broadway in Happy End, The Cherry Orchard, Secret Service, and Trelawny of the Wells, as well as off-Broadway's Wonderland in Concert and Alice in Concert.
