Halloween's the time for little monkeys to party, and Monkey Monkey Music with Meredith LeVande plans a most excellent party in celebration of the release of Meredith's new CD What Are the Odds? at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 31 at The Educational Alliance, 197 E. Broadway, NYC.

Meredith says, "Our CD release celebration will be highly interactive, and we'll have a full band at the show to keep things rocking. We'll have fun dancing together and singing plenty of old favorites, plus lots of new songs from What Are the Odds? Kids and their adults should be ready to ‘Jump High,' play ‘Air Guitar,' and ‘Shake it Loud.' We might even offer a ‘sneak preview' of videos from the new DVD I'll be releasing in December. And since it's Halloween, kids are definitely encouraged to come dressed in costume. All monkeys welcome!"

Five years ago Meredith Levande's debut album, Monkey Monkey Music with Meredith LeVande, became an instant hit with families nationwide, was a Parenting magazine "Pick," and was in rotation on Sirius Satellite Radio, earning a grassroots reputation as a classic children's record. Meredith LeVande has, since 2005, devoted herself to performing for children in intimate settings, becoming a favorite among NYC area families and creating a repertoire that has grown organically due to her one-on-one interactions with children of virtually every culture imaginable. She has also produced a number of outstanding music videos, four of which were shown this summer on the Comcast on Demand Preschool Channel.

Drawing from her expertise in a variety of disciplines, Meredith Levande could well be termed a "Renaissance woman of children's music." She brings to her work a strong academic background, having earned a bachelor's degree in Women's Studies and English from the University of Rochester, a law degree from Brooklyn Law School, and a master's degree in music from SUNY Purchase Music Conservatory. Yet to experience Meredith's music is by no means an academic abstraction. Her songs are joy-filled expressions of pure, childlike fun. One listening is all it takes to recognize that Meredith really loves being around children.

With a clear delivery that's filled with expression and charm, Meredith LeVande brings elements of traditional children's music to her original songs, which range from the knock-knock joke-filled, "Who's a Knockin?" to the wordplay and animal noises in "Silly Animal Friends" to "Guess What I Am?," a "slowing down" song that's jam-packed with riddles. Her "Air Guitar," "Shake It Loud," and "In the Garden," are guaranteed to get kids up and moving.

Meredith LeVande's upcoming projects include a soon-to-be-released full-length DVD, Monkey Monkey Music: The Videos with Meredith LeVande, and a children's book, In The Garden.
