The Merchant's House Museum is not only Manhattan's Most Haunted House - it's also one of the world's most carefully investigated ones.

Home to the prosperous Tredwell merchant family for almost 100 years, the (nonprofit) Merchant's House Museum remains intact with the original furniture, objects and clothing. Seven members of the Tredwell family died in the house. Many believe they never left. Shadowy silhouettes, music from an unplayable piano and face-to-face conversations between the living and the dead are all business as usual at the Merchant's House Museum.

Since 2007, paranormal investigator Dan Sturges and his team have been granted exclusive access to the Merchant's House - in an attempt to explain what has been unexplainable.

Now, the Museum has embarked upon an extraordinarily ambitious yearlong project to examine, document, and build on persuasive evidence already gathered - and on May 14, you're invited to discover what we've learned.

Saturday, May 14, 7pm: Lecture: "Investigating Manhattan's Most Haunted House"

At the Merchant's House Museum (29 E. Fourth Street, NYC; btw. Lafayette & Bowery)

Dan Sturges returns for the latest installment in his popular lecture series. After a brief primer on the history of parapsychology (with a focus on the use of electronic equipment and psychics), Sturges will reveal the most extraordinary aspects of his Merchant's House investigations - providing numerous details never before shared with the public. You'll hear disembodied voices caught on tape, see startling photographic evidence and hear about unexplained incidents experienced by Sturges and others.

The evening concludes with a spirited Q&A session - followed by a RAFFLE DRAWING. The winner, and a guest, will join Sturges and his team on their June 11 investigation or on a mutually agreeable investigation date (after they've received a crash course in ghost hunting techniques and the unique haunted history of MHM).

LECTURE TICKETS: $20

RAFFLE TICKETS: $5 each, or 3 for $10.

DAN STURGES
A graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Dan's work in theatre and independent films has taken him around the world. A childhood interest in ghosts and an interest in the Civil War led to an interest in researching haunted locations of historical significance. After working with a local group, Sturges (along with colleagues Dan Tisher and Mike Gustavson) formed Sturges Paranormal - whose members include some of the best researchers on the east coast who specialize in historically haunted locations.

His reputation for using sophisticated investigative techniques and equipment, combined with his levelheaded approach, has given Sturges access to some of New York's most notoriously haunted locations (such as The Ed Sullivan Theatre, restaurant One if by Land, Two if by Sea and The Bartow-Pell Mansion).
