Mental Health on the Brain in TWO OF A MIND at Alchemical Studio Theater

Two of a Mind is an evening of solo performances exploring the restlessness of the human mind and shedding light on mental illness that lies beneath the surface through a combination of comedy, movement, and astrophysics. Performing at the Alchemical Theatre Laboratory (104 W 14th St, New York, NY 10011) on May 12, 13, and 14 at 7pm the evening consists of two new plays; The Insomniac's Almanac written and performed by Austin Crowley, directed by TJ Weaver, and Journey to the Center of a Black Hole written and performed by Paige Goodloe, developed with and directed by Lauren Z. Two of a Mind is honored to work with Project UROK (www.projecturok.org), a non-profit initiative of the Child Mind Institute whose goals are to de-stigmatize mental illness, combat isolation, create an online community, and reduce teen suicide. Project UROK was founded in 2014 by writer and comedian Jenny Jaffe (Disney, MTV, VH1) to combat the isolation and stigmatization surrounding mental illness. Their mission is to create funny, meaningful videos for teenagers struggling with mental health issues, made by people who have been there before. In addition to their original content, they also encourage teens to make their own videos and share their own stories! In doing so, they provide not only practical assistance, but also a sense of belonging, a sense of comfort, and a sense of hope. Donations can be made HERE.
