Mens-Ties.com, the San Francisco based online tie shop and fashion blog, published a series highlighting the best Spring 2013 collections from New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Besides just giving fashion enthusiasts an overview of trends to look for in the coming spring season, the blog highlights 5 collections in more detail, each of which stood out from the crowd during this week's events in NYC.
"New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is one of the most exciting events in the industry," says Mens-Ties.com founder Hendrik Pohl, "so we wanted to make sure we did it justice by highlighting our favorite Spring 2013 collections. While things have wound down by now, there are plenty of pieces that have yet to leave our minds; pieces that took us by surprise and allowed us to once again get excited about the future of men's fashion. There are some familiar names in here, and it should stand to reason that these are among the best designers and labels in the world today."
Each piece in the series highlights a specific label or designer's collection. J. Crew's Spring 2013 collection is highlighted, for example, and is celebrated for its usage of bold colors and simplistic, subtle designs. Marc by Marc Jacobs also gets a mention for the label's usage of contrast in their Spring 2013 collection.
"We're seeing a lot of heavy usage of contrast in Spring 2013 fashion," says Pohl. "Marc by Marc Jacobs' Spring 2013 collection is a great example of taking things to the extreme, while something like Michael Bastian's monochromatic suits and bold ties shows off how to create contrast in a subtle manner. The variety at hand during this show was nothing short of remarkable, not to mention exciting."
Mens-Ties.com publishes regular article series' focusing on men's fashion, many of which handle the inner-workings and latest trends in the industry. Other topics covered are the fashion and style of politicians and celebrities, as well as fashion tips for the modern man.
"Our readers are fashion-forward individuals, yet some of them are simply too busy to keep up with Fashion Week happenings. It's our job to ensure that we keep people as educated as possible about what's new in the industry, which is just one reason why we wanted to publish this series. Aside from that, we feel as if this is one of the most important events of the year, and that it should not go ignored; the more we can cover, the better."
