Melissa Gordon's Solo Show FRESH Set for UCB Tonight

Writer, performer, Melissa Gordon's new solo show Fresh will be performed at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (UCB) in Chelsea tonight, July 9th and Wednesday, July 29th at 8:00 pm. The production is directed by Michael Hartney who is a member of UCB Harold Team, The Governess. Fresh was recently selected for a summer run at UCB. August dates will be announced soon.

Being a freshman at a liberal arts college is hard. In between studying, drinking, and making friends, the diverse residents of Beasley Hall are trying to figure out who they are. Will these freshmen make it through the first week of school? Or will their dreams be dashed before they even have a chance to come true?

Performances take place at UCB Chelsea, 307 West 26th Street (between 8th & 9th Avenue), New York, NY 10001. Subways: C/E to 23rd Street, 1 to 28th Street. Tickets are $5.00 and are available at www.chelsea.ucbtheatre.com. Dates: Thursday, July 9th at 8:00 pm AND Wednesday, July 29th at 8:00 pm. Running time: 30 minutes. *Please note that each performance will be paired with a different 30 minute solo show.

Melissa Gordon (Writer/Performer) is a New York based actor, writer, voice over artist and singer. She performs regularly in comedy venues throughout Manhattan including Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), The People's Improv Theater (The PIT) and The Magnet. Melissa also performs musical improv every Friday night with Hello at The PIT. Last year, she was a finalist in the NBC/UCB Diversity Showcase and she also performed her solo show One Night Only: An Evening of Songs with Melissa Gordon at the 2014 HOT! Festival at Dixon Place. Theater credits include, Found (Berkshire Theatre Group), If You Really Love Polar Bears (New York City Children's Theater), and Girls Night: The Musical (Ha! Midtown Theatre). Michael Hartney (Director) is a member of the UCBT Harold Team The Governess. He also co-hosts and directs Characters Welcome with Justin Tyler. Michael directed current UCBT shows Fresh, Mr. Jersey's Neighborhood, OH NO!, and Through the Back Door. Michael was the writer and performer of So I Like Superman: A One-Nerd Show, and also co-created Ten Men: A Two Man Character Show. Past UCBT teams include Harold Team Side Piece, Lloyd Team First Lady, and Maude Teams High Treason, Arbuckle, The Prom, and Legs for Days. Other past shows at UCBT include Dead Dads Club, I Am Very Important People (director), Spoiler Alert: This Is A Sketch Show, The 2017 Tony Awardz, Brad Sacks Gets A Handjob, Oh My God, I Heard You're Dying!, and The Same Sex-Tacular. Michael is the co-creator of IFC's digital sketch show Unique New York. He has also appeared on 30 Rock, in the films BearCity and Small Time (in the director commentary, Chris Meloni and director Joel Surnow agree: Michael is "terrific!"), in web shorts for IFC, Above Average and Yahoo, and commercials for Visa/NFL, Hanes, AT&T, Time Warner Cable, and many more. His writing has been seen on FX and Logo TV.
