Melinda Lopez' Sonia Flew has NY Premiere at SPF

Melinda Lopez's play Sonia Flew, about a Cuban exile coming to America shortly after Castro comes to power, will be a part of the final week of the 3rd Annual Summer Play Festival. The play will run from July 25th-30th at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre.

Sonia Flew had its world premiere at the Huntington Theatre in Boston, directed by The Huntington's Artistic Director Nicholas Martin. The Huntington's Artistic Associate Justin Waldman will direct the SPF production, and will include original cast members Carmen Roman, Will LeBow, and Zabryna Guevara.

Joining the cast for the SPF production will be David Wohl ("Ed," "100 Centre Street," Fiddler on the Roof, The Man Who Had All the Luck) and Armando Riesco (Garden State, 25th Hour, Pieces of April).

The complete cast for Sonia Flew includes: Carmen Roman, Will LeBow, Riesco, Zabryna Guevara, Wohl, and Shana Dowdswell.

The complete schedule is: Tuesday, July 25th at 7:00pm, Wednesday, July 26th at 7:30pm, Thursday, July 27th at 7:00pm, Friday, July 28th at 7:00pm, Saturday, July 29th at 1:30pm and 7:30pm, and Sunday July 30th at 2:00pm.

 "Under founder Arielle Tepper (a producer of Broadway's Monty Python's Spamalot, The Pillowman, A Raisin in The Sun, and Freak), The non-profit organization The Living Room for Artists Inc./Summer Play Festival provides emerging writers, directors, designers and producers an opportunity to work on their material and their craft in a protected environment, guided by established professionals at no cost to them," state press notes.
