Emmy-winning actress and singer Megan Mullally, who is currently playing Elizabeth in Mel Brooks' musical version of Young Frankenstein on Broadway, will be hosting the 2008 Actors Fund Gala in New York on May 5th. The event, which is being held at Cipriani 42nd Street, will honor Alec Baldwin, Renee Fleming, Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley.
Mullally played the character of Karen Walker on NBC's "Will & Grace" for 8 seasons, receiving 2 Emmy Awards and 4 Screen Actors Guild Awards. She recently hosted a syndicated daytime talk show for NBC/Universal, "The Megan Mullally Show," and has appeared on Broadway in the revivals of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying and Grease.
As a vocalist, her credits include performances at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, The Seattle Symphony (with her band Supreme Music Program), and Los Angeles' Disney Concert Hall (soloist). She and her band, Supreme Music Program, recently released their third CD, Free Again!.
Mullally will host the gala evening program which features performers from stage, screen and television in addition to the presentation of the Nedda Harrigan Logan Award to acclaimed actor Alec Baldwin, the awarding of the Lee Strasberg Artistic Achievement Award to international opera sensation Renée Fleming, and The Actors Fund Medal of Honor presentation to Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley. The entertainment is being produced by Jed Bernstein.
