Megan Hilty, Ryan Silverman to Perform with New York Pops in Spring 2013

On March 8, 2013, The New York Pops continues its 30th season with an evening of swinging favorites in Luck Be a Lady: Megan Hilty Sings Sinatra and More. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke - described by The New York Times as a "polished, welcoming host" who is "young and vigorous, with a playful attitude" - will lead the orchestra as it tips its hat to the Rat Pack, Ella Fitzgerald, Marilyn Monroe, and other stars from the golden age of entertainment. The performance features Megan Hilty, Broadway singer and star of the television show Smash, and Ryan Silverman, one of Broadway's favorite leading men. The program will include "Luck Be a Lady," "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend," music from Smash and more.

The concert will take place at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. "We're so excited to present Megan Hilty with The New York Pops," says Steven Reineke, Music Director. "In my opinion, she's one of the greatest female performers working in show business today. The voice, the looks, the star power - she's got it all!"

The New York Pops' 30th season continues with a celebration of Stephen Schwartz, composer of Wicked, on April 12, 2013. The season culminates with the orchestra's 30th Birthday Gala on April 29, 2013.

Megan Hilty is best known for her for role on Smash and her portrayal of Lorelei Lee, the diamond-loving blonde made famous by Carol Channing, in the New York City Center Encores! production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes; Doralee Rhodes in Broadway's 9 to 5: The Musical (earning nominations for Lead Actress in a Musical from the Drama Desk Awards, among others); and more. She made her Broadway debut as Glinda in Wicked, and went on to perform the role in a national tour and in Los Angeles. She was recently signed to Sony Music, with her new album to be released in the spring. This performance marks her debut with The New York Pops and at Carnegie Hall.

Ryan Silverman most recently starred in the Broadway and Las Vegas productions of The Phantom of the Opera as Raoul. Other New York credits include Music In The Air (Karl) at New York City Center Encores!, Cry-Baby on Broadway (Cry-Baby u/s), and The Most Happy Fella (Al) at New York City Opera. His portrayal of Tony in the Olivier-nominated 2008 West End production of West Side Story received universal raves. Additional stage credits include the first national tour of Mamma Mia! (Sky) and Wicked in Chicago. Ryan's film and television work includes Gossip Girl and Sex and the City 2, as well as a featured appearance in the film Five Minarets with Danny Glover and Gina Gershon. Ryan will next star opposite Melissa Errico and Judy Kuhn in Classic Stage Company's upcoming production of Stephen Sondheim's Passion, directed by John Doyle.

The New York Pops is the largest independent pops orchestra in the United States, and the only professional symphonic orchestra in New York City specializing in popular music. Led by Music Director Steven Reineke, the orchestra performs an annual subscription series and birthday gala at Carnegie Hall. The New York Pops also gives free concerts in New York City parks, performs interactive concerts for families, and has toured throughout the world. Steven Reineke's boundless enthusiasm and exceptional artistry have made him one of the nation's most soughtafter pops conductors, composers and arrangers. Mr. Reineke is Music Director and Conductor of The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, the newly appointed Principal Pops Conductor of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Principal Pops Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. Mr. Reineke is a frequent guest conductor with The Philadelphia Orchestra and in the past year he conducted the Boston Pops, The Cleveland Orchestra and Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia. His extensive North American conducting appearances include Los Angeles, Houston, Seattle, Edmonton and Detroit.

As the creator of more than one hundred orchestral arrangements for the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Mr. Reineke's work has been performed worldwide, and can be heard on numerous Cincinnati Pops Orchestra recordings on the Telarc label. His symphonic works Celebration Fanfare, Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Casey at the Bat are performed frequently in North America. His numerous wind ensemble compositions are published by the C.L.

Barnhouse Company and are performed by concert bands around the world. A native of Ohio, Mr. Reineke is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio, where he earned bachelor of music degrees with honors in both trumpet performance and music composition. He currently resides in New York City.
