Ars Nova the third season of its acclaimed Broadway Spotlight series with Wicked's Megan Hilty. Join Hilty for an eclectic evening of songs ranging from new composers all the way to old flops, adaptations of 80s pop favs, disco and legit art songs. Megan Hilty is garnering high praise for her debut role in Broadway's Wicked (standby for "Glinda"). A graduate of Carnegie Mellon's theatre program, she recently appeared in the new musical, Café Puttanesca, at Pittsburgh's City Theatre. Other regional credits include Suds at Oregon Cabaret Theatre.
John Kroner's compositions have been sung by Debbie Gravitte, Randy Graff, Karen Mason, Brian d'Arcy James, Sally Mayes, Nathan Lane, Karen Ziemba among dozens of others. He won the L.A. Weekly Theatre Award for his music in An Elephant Never Forgets (an Evening of Trunk Songs). On Broadway, off-Broadway and regionally, Kroner has musical directed and/or arranged: The Last Session, Tapestry: The Music of Carole King, Little Shop of Horrors, The Lady in Question, Forbidden Broadway and Canterbury Tales. He most recently produced and wrote special musical material for the gala benefit at the 92nd St. Y with Michael Feinstein, Tony Curtis, Michael J. Fox, Hunter and Sutton Foster, to name a few. He is currently at work on a new musical, The Showgirl of 52nd Street.
Broadway Spotlight brings bright new stars of the Great White Way to the intimate 99-seat theater at Ars Nova (511 West 54th Street). Curated by Gordon Greenberg, this season's Broadway Spotlight kicked off with Jesse Tyler Ferguson (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee). Last season's guests included Max von Essen (Dance of the Vampires), Ann Harada (Avenue Q), Celia Keenan-Bolger (The Light in the Piazza) and John Tartaglia (Avenue Q). This wildly successful monthly event has previously hosted Broadway notables such as Felicia Finley, Anthony Rapp, Idina Menzel, Julia Murney and Billy Porter.
