New York Musical Theatre Festival is in full swing and BroadwayWorld has taken the time to sit down with some of the stars of this years NYMF musicals.

Like any great art form, musical theatre is shaped by the events and philosophies of the day. The strength and vitality of musical theatre lie in its ability to stay fresh and relevant. It was with that idea in mind, ten years ago, that the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) was created - to provide an effective platform to introduce new shows, new perspectives, and new blood into the musical theatre canon.

MEET THE STARS OF NYMF sits down with Steven G. Anthony of REAL MEN

What's your favorite thing about performing as part of NYMF?

I just love the whole concept! I feel that this show is a perfect fit for a festival like this. I can't wait for New York audiences to get a taste of the cleverness and creativity of my partners in crime, Paul Louis and Nick Santa Maria, from whose fertile imaginations this delightful show sprang. I think you folks are in for a real treat!

Have you participated in NYMF before? If so, what's your favorite part and what drew you back to the festival?

This is my first experience with NYMF. I am tremendously excited to be part of "Real Men" as my NYMF debut, and I am enormously grateful that Paul and Nick asked me to come along for this crazy ride!

What other NYMF show are you most intrigued by or excited to see?

While I plan to see as many of the festival entries as possible, I'm particularly excited to see "Where All the Rivers Go to Sleep," which is being directed by my Tony-nominated colleague Randal Myler, who directed me several years ago in the off-Broadway hit, "Hank Williams: Lost Highway" at the Little Schubert Theater. (Fun fact: The Laurie Beechman Theater, the downstairs cabaret at The West Bank Café, where we perform was my favorite post-show haunt during the "Hank Williams" run!)

Tell us about your show/your character?

The show is a light-hearted, fun-filled musical romp through the trials and tribulations of being a "guy." I portray the character of an average everyman named "Dick" in our intrepid trio of Tom, Dick, and Harry. (Side note: I think we may have missed a marketing opportunity by not employing a tag line such as: "If you liked Hugh Jackman's Jez, you'll love Steve Anthony's Dick!")
