Denzel Washington - Othello
Denzel Washington is a native of Mt. Vernon, NY, and graduated from Fordham University, where he majored in drama. He spent a year at San Francisco’s prestigious American Conservatory Theatre before beginning his professional acting career. Since then, Denzel’s unforgettable performances have garnered him two Academy® Awards, three Golden Globes, and countless other awards. Denzel received his first Academy Award for the historical war drama Glory (1987) and his second for his portrayal of the corrupt cop in the crime thriller, Training Day (2001). Denzel won a Tony® Award for his performance in Fences, during his return to Broadway in 2010. Denzel’s professional acting career began in New York, where he performed in theatre productions such as Ceremonies in Dark Old Men and Othello. He rose to fame when he landed the role as Dr. Phillip Chandler on the NBC long-running hit television series, St. Elsewhere. His other television credits include The George McKenna Story, License to Kill, and Wilma. As Denzel crossed over into the world of film, he garnered critical acclaim for his portrayal of real life figures. He earned his first Oscar Nomination for Cry Freedom (1987), as South African anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko. From there, he went on to portray Muslim minister and human rights activist Malcolm X in Malcolm X (1992), boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter in The Hurricane (1999), football coach Herman Boone in Remember the Titans (2000), poet and educator Melvin B. Tolson in The Great Debaters (2007), and drug kingpin Frank Lucas in American Gangster (2007). A few of his other beloved credits include: Much Ado About Nothing (1993), A Soldier’s Story (1984), Crimson Tide (1995), Devil in a Blue Dress (1995), and Inside Man (2006). In 2016, Denzel starred in the critically acclaimed film adaptation of August Wilson’s Fences. In addition to producing and directing the adaptation, Denzel reprised his original Tony Award-winning role alongside Viola Davis. The film received four Academy Award nominations including Denzel for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role.” His other latest films include Unstoppable (2010) where he reunited with director Tony Scott for the fifth time, 2 Guns (2013) where he starred alongside Mark Wahlberg, and The Equalizer, an action thriller film directed by Antoine Fuqua (2014) of which he reprised his role in 2018 for The Equalizer 2, making it the first time Denzel has ever done a sequel. Released in 2023, he resumed his role in the last movie of the trilogy The Equalizer 3. In 2016, Denzel teamed up with Antoine Fuqua again for an exciting remake of The Magnificent Seven, which also starred Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke. Denzel returned to the stage in 2018 when he starred in a revival of Eugene O’Neill’s The Iceman Cometh, which was directed by George C. Wolfe. His performance garnered him a Tony award nomination. He also recently starred in Dan Gilroy’s Roman J. Israel, Esq. for which he received multiple Best Actor nominations. In 2016, he was selected as the recipient for the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards, cementing his legacy in Hollywood. He most recently was honored with the AFI Life Achievement award, one of the highest honors for a career in film. Denzel recently produced Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom for Netflix, directed by George C. Wolfe with cast including Viola Davis, Chadwick Boseman, and Colman Domingo. The Warner Bros thriller The Little Things recently starred Denzel alongside Rami Malek and Jared Leto. Most recently, Denzel directed A Journal for Jordan starring Michael B. Jordan and helmed the helmed the Joel Coen-directed The Tragedy of Macbeth alongside Frances McDormand, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Male Actor in a Leading Role. Jake Gyllenhaal - Iago
Jake Gyllenhaal (Iago). An Academy Award and Tony Award nominee, Gyllenhaal is one of the finest actors of his generation. Molly Osborne - Desdemona
Molly Osborne has emerged as one of England’s most promising up-and-coming young actresses who has been called “remarkable” and “a true rising star” of the London stage by the Evening Standard. A native of Wivenhoe in Essex, Osborne moved to London at the age of 18 to study musical theater at the renowned Trinity Laban School of Music and Dance. Shortly after graduating in 2018, she made her West End debut as Tzeitel in Trevor Nunn’s Olivier Award-winning revival of Fiddler on the Roof. In 2021, she returned to the Menier Chocolate Factory as Chana in Pulitzer Prize winner Paula Vogel’s Indecent. The production, directed by Tony Award winner Rebecca Taichman, reopened that venerated theater after the COVID lockdown. Most recently, she starred opposite Jamie Parker in the world premiere musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Curious Cast of Benjamin Button directed by Jethro Compton at the Southwark Playhouse in London. Variety heralded her performance as Elowen as “hauntingly sung, wonderfully grounded, and quick witted.” Earlier this year, she appeared in the adaptation of Sara Ryan’s memoir Laughing Boy, which had its world premiere at the Jermyn Street Theatre. In addition to her extensive theater credits, Osborne can also be seen on television in PBS’s Call The Midwife and in the upcoming Amazon Prime series Anansi Boys created by Neil Gaiman.

Andrew Burnap - Cassio
Tony Award winner Andrew Burnap will next be seen in in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Snow White alongside Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, releasing theatrically on March 21, 2025. It was also recently announced that Burnap will be starring alongside Nate Mann and Shay Mitchell in The Up and Comer, a thriller directed by Golden Globe and Peabody Award winner Chris Long based on the novel from New York Times bestseller Howard Roughan, who adapted the screenplay. The multi-hyphenate was seen on Broadway last year as Arthur in Lerner and Loewe’s Camelot with a new book by Aaron Sorkin at Lincoln Center Theater, for which he earned a Drama Desk nomination, and Off-Broadway opposite Marin Ireland in Spain by Jen Silverman. In 2021, the actor won a Tony and Clive Barnes Award for his work Matthew Lopez’s The Inheritance. Burnap was recently seen in A24’s psychological horror The Front Room, in the Apple TV+ series “WeCrashed,” and as Joseph Smith in the FX on Hulu limited series “Under the Banner of Heaven.” Other credits include “Younger,” “The Good Fight,” “Instinct,” “The Code,” and independent features Spare Room and The Chaperone. Neal Bledsoe - The Duke of Venice
Neal Bledsoe is a versatile performer and creator whose work spans theater, film, television, performance art, and journalism. He’s thrilled to make his official Broadway debut this spring in Kenny Leon’s production of Othello alongside Denzel Washington, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Molly Osborne. His stage career includes an Ovation Award-nominated performance in Michael Arden’s production of The Pride at The Wallis Annenberg Center, the creation of The Count in Stephen Wadsworth’s The Figaro Plays at the McCarter Theater, and the title role in Antony and Cleopatra at Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival. He previously appeared on Broadway as an understudy in Impressionism, working alongside Jeremy Irons, Joan Allen, Andre De Shields, and Marsha Mason under the direction of Jack O’Brien. On television, Bledsoe has built an impressive body of work including roles in acclaimed series such as The Man in the High Castle, The Last Tycoon, Shameless, and Smash. His film work spans studio features like Revolutionary Road and Sex and the City 2, as well as award-winning independent films including Junction, West End, and After The Sun Fell. Next year, he will be seen in Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming Netflix film opposite Rebecca Ferguson. As a journalist, Bledsoe has contributed to Variety, Men’s Health, and Sports Illustrated since 2014, where his series The Delicate Moron chronicled his remarkable attempt to play professional football for the LA KISS. He’s also a narrator for The New York Times, having also read work for The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Outside, and many more. His artistic collaborations include work with Jon Kessler on The Web, exhibited in New York City and at the Museum Tinguely in Basel, Switzerland, and with avant-garde artist Mark Flood in his surreal film Art Fair Fever in Austin, TX. He is also a filmmaker, author, and poet; a proud graduate of both UNCSA’s School of Drama (BFA ’05) and member of The Actors Center; has played the occasional Christmas Prince, and was once even an Old Spice Man.

Julee Cerda returns to Broadway as Cassio’s love interest, Bianca, in Kenny Leon’s revival of Othello. She was previously seen on stage portraying civil rights attorney, Edna Klein, in Mark Medoff’s Broadway production of Children of a Lesser God, also under the direction of Leon. Other favorite past roles include Ginny in Lydia R. Diamond’s regional production of Smart People at True Colors Theatre in Atlanta. Known for her powerful portrayal of diverse, empowered women, Julee can be seen on screen as the formidable Evil Stepmother in Disney’s Descendants: The Rise of Red. Broadway: Our Town directed by Kenny Leon, the National Broadway Tour of To Kill A Mockingbird as Link Deas and covering Atticus Finch. Regionally: George in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Erik in The Humans, Elyot in Private Lives and Lloyd in Noises Off for the Walnut St Theatre in Philadelphia. Other Philly credits include, Brick in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Editor Webb in Our Town, Biff in Death of a Salesman and Da in Once with the Arden Theatre Co. Iago in Othello for the Orlando Shakespeare Festival and Benedict in Much Ado About Nothing directed by Russell Treyz with the West Side Shakespeare Theatre. Greg is a company member of the People’s Light and Theatre Co. He has spent 25 seasons with the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival where he played the title roles of Hamlet, Richard III and King John, as well as Prospero in The Tempest, Antony in Antony and Cleopatra, Cyrano in Cyrano de Bergerac, The Poet in An Iliad, and Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew, among many others. Film and Television credits include Mr. Collins (Kyra’s Dad) in The Sixth Sense, Signs, The Happening, A Gentlemen’s Game, Blacklist, Evil, Dr. Death, Law & Order, Ed, Hack and Homicide: Life on the Street.

Abiola Obatolu - Performer
Abiola Obatolu is thrilled to make her Broadway debut in Othello with this extraordinary team. Most recently, Obatolu appeared in Diane Paulus’s Romeo and Juliet at the American Reparatory Theatre. Professional credits include Odyssey (The Acting Company), The Color Purple (Broadway at Music Circus Sacramento), and This Is How You Capture The Light (The Kennedy Center). Obatolu is a recent graduate of the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, where she received her BFA in Acting.

Regionally in the U.S., Sarah has received two BroadwayWorld nominations (Best Leading Actress in a Musical; Performer of the Decade) for Sally Bowles in Cabaret with Peregrine Theatre Ensemble. Select credits include Lady Anne (Richard III), Portia (The Merchant of Venice), Julia (Two Gentlemen of Verona), Jessica (This Is Our Youth), Petra (A Little Night Music), Portia (Something Rotten), and Beggar Woman (Sweeney Todd). Training: LAMDA, Manhattan School of Music.
