Five Fun Facts About Michael (in his own words)
1. "I met my best friend Jessica Rush (Jersey Boys on Broadway) in high school in Orlando, Florida, where we used to belt in the hallways and be the ultimate annoying theatre geeks together, and now we're belting on Broadway 20 years later."
2. "In Paris, France at the famous Chatelet Theatre, my first theatre job while finishing up my senior year of college was the standby for the legendary Ben Vereen in the international tour of Fosse. Mr. Vereen became a mentor and friend through this show and when my family came to Paris for a visit, Mr. Vereen made a big plan with me to surprise my family that he would get to go on in the role while there were there. Mr. Vereen went even further and paid for the whole family's theatre tickets and sat with them to watch the show in support to see me on in the starring role."
3. "I'm obsessed with family, friends, fried chicken, fashion, champagne, the real housewives franchise and keepin' it Fierce !!!!"
4. "I met my partner over 15 year ago at Ann Reinking's Broadway Theatre Project down in Tampa, Florida. We now live in NYC together and have a two year old daughter whose name is Chloé Phylicia Chanel Merrifield, who happens to be a chocolate (Obviously!) French BullDog. #CholéPhylicia"
5. "Although always an entertainer, it wasn't until the voices of Billy Porter and Ty Taylor singing Songs for A New World that I realized I too could have an actual place in the theatre community one day."
