Composer Victoria Shaw will present "Under the Covers" on Monday, April 16 at 7pm. She will be joined by some very special guest performer/songwriters, including Gary Burr, Hilary Scott and Richie McDonald of the country group Lonestar. This event is part of "Broadway at Birdland," an ongoing series of events featuring top performers and songwriters at the legendary club (315 West 44th Street, NYC). Jim Caruso's Cast Party and TheaterMania.com present.
"'Under the Covers' has become a regular occasion at Birdland. Victoria Shaw hosts the musical round-table, co-starring a wide range of million-selling songwriters from the pop, country and rock worlds. The audience is privy to acoustic performances by the composers of the mega-hits, and the stories behind them," state press notes.
Shaw is a pop/country songwriter responsible for over 65 million cd sales. As a singer, she had the great opportunity to open for Garth Brooks in the historic 1997 Central Park concert. Victoria also wrote one of Brooks' biggest hits of all-time, "The River." The two-time Emmy Award-winning composer also wrote "I Love The Way You Love Me" for John Michael Montgomery and "Nobody Wants To Be Lonely" for Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera. Her songs have been recorded by Olivia Newton John, Boyzone, Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, Reba McEntyre, Tricia Yearwood, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Michael McDonald.
