The Nuyorican Poets Cafe and NoPassport present DREAMING THE AMERICAS: UTOPIA IN PERFORMANCE- a 2 a two-day conference with the support of The Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance, Idiom, The Internationalists, 50/50 in 2020, Conni's Avant-Garde Restaurant, and New Dramatists.

Award winning playwrights Oliver Mayer, Chiori Miyagawa, and Octavio Solis will be among the participants at the conference, which will take place on February 26 and 27.

The conference will be curated by Caridad Svich and co-curated by Daniel Banks & Daniel Gallant.

Other participants will include Migdalia Cruz, Erik Ehn, Henry Godinez, Jeff Janisheski, Lisa D'Amour, Catherine Filloux, Karen Hartman, Melanie Joseph, Jeff McMahon, Oliver Mayer, Chiori Miyagawa, Katie Pearl, J.T. Rogers, Ian Rowlands, Alberto Sandoval, Octavio Solis, Saviana Stanescu, Teresa Eyring and a distinguished roster of established and emerging artists.

This two-day conference will focus on a wide range of contemporary works for theatre and performance, viewing physical, metaphorical, and digital utopian spaces from a variety of formal and creative perspectives.

Keynote speeches will be delivered by Erik Ehn and Henry Godinez. There will be a special lunch event from Conni's Avant-Garde Resturant. There will also be a book launch for the release of four new volumes from NoPassport Press from Migdalia Cruz, Karen Hartman, Chiori Miyagawa, Octavio Solis and Saviana Stanescu.

The conference will take place on February 26, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. Registration/cover will cost $25. To register, click here.
