The Broadway at Birdland concert series will present theater veterans Maureen Brennan and George Dvorsky in "We're Still Here" on Monday, October 17 at 7pm.
What happens when two Broadway veterans --
Maureen Brennan (best known for her break-out, Tony-nominated role in
Hal Prince's innovative 1974 Candide) and
George Dvorsky (Scarlet Pimpernel, Passion) -- get together? There will be great singing, for sure. There will be backstage stories from over three decades of trodding the boards on Broadway and across the country. And always, there will be lots of laughs! Ever since they met doing a regional production of Carousel, Brennan and Dvorsky's careers have intersected with delightful regularity over the years, resulting in a friendship that has weathered both theatrical triumphs and fiascos. In "We're Still Here!," George and Maureen add a new chapter to their resumes as a cabaret team is born! Joining their outstanding legit voices, audiences will be treated to the kind of singing rarely encountered on Broadway today, and the act culminates in a medley of classic songs from such beloved landmark shows as Brigadoon, Showboat, Follies, and West Side Story. Directed by
Dan Foster (who shaped the acclaimed Callaway Sisters' shows "Sibling Revelry" and "Boom!") and featuring arrangements by Musical Director
Alex Rybeck (known for his work with
Faith Prince,
Jeff Harnar, The Callaways, and others) with musical staging by
Pam Sousa, "We're Still Here!" promises to be an evening of musical magic from two stalwarts who have "paid their dues" and continue to ignite laughs and musical excitement whenever they join forces.
