The Light in the Piazza star Matthew Morrison and A Year with Frog and Toad writer Willie Reale will bring their Broadway-honed talents to a new pilot for NBC.

According to Variety, Morrison will play a character named Hudson Chanticleer in Reale's "Sky," which will star Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride) and Missi Pyle. "Elwes...will play politician Mark Haskett, who dies and is given a second shot at living in the guise of another character, Chris Dalness," states to the trade paper. NBC Universal TV and Conaco are the producers of "Sky."

Reale wrote the book and lyrics of A Year with Frog and Toad, an intimate family-friendly musical that ran on Broadway in 2003; his brother Robert Reale wrote the music for the show.

Morrison first shot to Broadway fame as Link Larkin in the original Broadway cast of Hairspray and won even more fans (as well as a Tony Award nomination) as Fabrizio in The Light in the Piazza. He has also appeared on Broadway in A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, Footloose and The Rocky Horror Show. Film and TV credits include the recent "Wonderful World of Disney" version of Once Upon a Mattress, "Sex and the City," "Hack," Marci X and Primary Colors.
