Comedian Matt S. McCormick will debut his new solo show, MEAN OLD LADY, on Sunday, November 19th, at 2pm as part of SOLOCOM 2017.
SOLOCOM is NYC's only all-new solo show festival, where more than 100 artists debut brand new, solo comedic works at the Peoples Improv Theater.
In MEAN OLD LADY, McCormick steps outside the stand-up arena and into a character study of bitchy Boston octogenarian Peggy Buchanan. A vodka-swilling, Lil Debbie-dispensing, tart-tongued matriarch, Peggy spent many years keeping her thoughts and beliefs to herself. Now that her life is almost over, she's over that. Live from the dining room of Dusky Acres Retirement Villa, Peggy will dish out advice to her grandchildren (played by the audience) on love, life, and losing her patience. When you're Peggy, it's never too late to dictate your hate.
As a comedian, McCormick has performed at clubs throughout New York City, including Stand Up NY, Broadway Comedy Club, and Caroline's on Broadway - where he's emceed for Kendall Ketchum Live twice. In addition to SOLOCOM, he's participated in the QueerCom and Cinder Block Comedy Festivals.
He has had previous successes throughout the city with his other solo shows "A Friend of Dorothy (Zbornak)", "Broad Shoulders", "The Matt Show", and "Bette Davis Smize". He is also producer & host of GO RICKI, a monthly comedy show inspired by topics from Ricki Lake's 90's talk show, at QED Astoria.
Tickets to MEAN OLD LADY are $10 and can be purchased at thepit-nyc.com/event/2017-11-19-solocom2017-2pm-striker. MEAN OLD LADY will be seen on a double-bill with Dustin D'Addato's What Are We Thinking?: America - By The Numbers
