Matt Oestreicher, Music Director For SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE Releases 80's Pop Inspired Album DREAM THE WORLD NEW Image

Musician and Producer Matt Oestreicher recently found himself mired in a troubling paradox. While mentoring kids in his music program, he realized he was encouraging children to aspire high, but he wasn't pursuing his own dreams. Despite becoming an accomplished sideman musician, he had yet to fulfill his desire to record and release any of his work. This epiphany has led to a boldly soulful reclamation, and, now, Matt announces his infectious and enlightening debut album, "Dream The World New," out November 16. It's an empowering record that melds rousing 1980's pop-rock with self- reflective themes.

In his career, he has traversed a wild array of genres, including funk, soul, jazz, R&B, rock, third stream, kirtan, and avant-garde. A select cross-section of the artists he's performed and worked with include Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick, Cee-Lo Green, Will i Am, Weird Al, Jon Bon Jovi, Paul Shaffer, Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg, John Legend, Talib Kweli, Esperanza Spalding, Krishna Das, and Anita Baker, among many others. Currently, he is the arranger/keyboardist/guitarist for the world famous Apollo Amateur Night Band, he has played lead guitar for Beautiful the Musical: The Carole King Broadway Show.

He is the Music Director for the New York revival of Smokey Joe's Cafe now playing at Stage 42 in Times Square. 42 His involvement with Smokey Joe's started in 2016 when the producers of the original version of the show began the process of reviving the show. Matt has played keyboards and guitar for the Apollo Theater house band since 2011. He also writes the charts for each amateur that performs on Amateur Night at The Apollo. Last year he played in the band for the series Showtime at The Apollo hosted by Steve Harvey on FOX. Matt has also composed music for film and TV, and appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The ESPY Awards, and Comedy Central's Night of Too Many Stars.

Parallel to his success as a career musician, Matt has been on an odyssey for truth and enlightenment into Eastern philosophy and practices. Post college, he dedicated the greater part of 4 years living at yoga centers and meditation centers. Today, Matt is certified as a yoga teacher, chi gong teacher, massage therapist and energy healer. He also heads up the discussion show "One With Everything," he co-founded the community youth arts non-profit Your Time To Shine, and he hosts the Podcast "The Mindful Musician."
