Actor Matt Bomer, one of Hollywood's most exciting young stars, will be honored on July 19 with the coveted Giffoni Award at the 44th Annual Giffoni Experience. The film festival will run from July 18 - 27 in Giffoni Valley Piana, Italy.
Known to television viewers the world over as White Collar's Neal Caffrey, Mr. Bomer won a Critics' Choice Best Supporting Actor award for his portrayal of Felix Turner in HBO's critically acclaimed screen adaptation of The Normal Heart. Based on the Tony Award winning Larry Kramer play about the AIDS epidemic in New York in the 1980's, the movie also starred Julia Roberts, Mark Ruffalo and Jim Parsons, and was directed by Ryan Murphy.
Mr. Bomer is scheduled to play legendary Hollywood star Montgomery Clift in a biography scheduled for release in 2015.
Mr. Bomer's movie credits include Flightplan, The Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Space Station 76, and Steven Soderbergh's Magic Mike, alongside Matthew McConaughey and Channing Tatum. On television, he has been seen in Traveler, the
FOX series Tru Calling, and the
NBC series Chuck as well as the
FOX series
Glee and NBC's The New Normal.
On Stage, Mr. Bomer was recently seen in the Broadway and Los Angeles readings of Dustin Lance Black's play, 8, where he was joined by such acting luminaries as Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, John C. Reilly and Ellen Barkin.
