In a new interview with Variety, Matt Bomer previews what's ahead in the newest installment of FX's AMERICAN HORROR STORY. The actor portrays creepy hotel guest Donovan in the show.

"He's a resident of the Hotel Cortez," says the MAGIC MIKE star of his character. "Like many Angelenos, his dreams didn't pan out the way he hoped, and he made some (bad) choices in life. He has a very good relationship with his mother [played by Kathy Bates], which really bleeds into the other relationships in his life - specifically his emotional state and relationships with women in general."

He continues, "The hotel is obviously a character in the story; it feels that way when you're filming. You can get this sense that no matter who you're in a scene with, you also have to think about what your relationship to the hotel is right now. It's very much alive in the story."

After appearing in a guest-starring role in Season 4 of AHS, the actor explains why he wanted to sign on to be a series regular for the next go-round. "They [Ryan Murphy and Brad Fulchuk] do the show so well," he said. "Even the grisly and more graphic parts are grounded in some type of human interaction."

The 13-episode fifth installment of the Emmy and Golden Globe winning franchise, American Horror Story: Hotel, premieres on FX tonight, October 7th.
