Masterworks Broadway, "where show tunes take center stage," continues the celebration of its incomparable library of theatrical recordings by announcing a new partnership with Broadway insider/comedian Seth Rudetsky. The new weekly video series, Brava! Seth Rudetsky Deconstructs Masterworks Broadway, premieres October 6 and continues every Wednesday thereafter. The first episodes include Rudetsky's patented takes on Betty Buckley's "He Plays the Violin" from the Broadway classic 1776 and Patti LuPone's "Blow, Gabriel, Blow" from Anything Goes.
Rudetsky's online Deconstructions have grown in popularity from postings on his website to thousands of hits on YouTube and now serve as the basis for a live act around the world. "It's thrilling to get to do my Deconstructions with actual production values instead of my rickety-rackety Atari-like computer. And it's very exciting to have the amazing, enormous Masterworks Broadway library at my disposal," says Rudetsky. "The only hard part is choosing what to Deconstruct next!"
Seth Rudetsky is the daily afternoon host for Sirius/XM's "On Broadway" channel and writes a weekly column for Playbill.com. His novel Broadway Nights (fourth printing) was recently released as an audio book on Audible.com. As a musician, Seth has a classical piano degree from Oberlin College Conservatory of Music. He has played in the pits of more than a dozen Broadway shows including Ragtime, Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera and was the vocal coach for the Legally Blonde reality show on MTV. Seth was the Artistic Producer/Music Director for the first five annual Actors Fund Fall Concerts including Dreamgirls with Audra MacDonald and the Grammy®-nominated Hair with Jennifer Hudson. As a comic, he won the title "Funniest Gay Male in NY" at Stand-Up NY and was recently featured in Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List. He currently tours his show "Deconstructing Broadway" all across the globe. For more information visit www.sethrudetsky.com.
