Amy Brenemann, Marsha Mason, Tony Roberts, Jobeth Williams, Lili Taylor, Adam Arkin, Jill Clayburgh and Hector Elizondo are among the theatre, film and TV veterans who will be seen in L.A. Theatre Works' "Voices from the Edge" 2006-2007 season of plays.
Performed at the Skirball Cultural Center, the plays will be recorded live and broadcast on LATW's "The Play's the Thing" nationally syndicated radio series. This season's plays include:
Work Song: Three Views of Frank Lloyd Wright, Jesus Hopped the "A" Train, Mary Stuart, Two Cities, Two Voices, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, The Ruby Sunrise, The Man Who Had All the Luck, The Busy World is Hushed, and
Sonia Flew. Another play, to be performed from July 11th through 15th, has yet to be announced.
Jeffrey Hatcher and
Eric Simonson's
Work Song: Three Views of Frank Lloyd Wright, which will receive its West Coast premiere, will star
Emmy Award nominees Gregory Itzin and Amy Brenneman. Academy Award-winner Simonson will direct.

tempestuous relationships are explored in this uniquely prismatic view
of one of the great architects of the modern era. How did Wright's art
continue to thrive amid so much personal chaos?," according to LATW notes.

Jesus Hopped the "A" Train will have its LA premiere from November 8th through 12th. The play is described as "
An intense, chilling take on life behind bars."Frederick von Schiller's classic play
Mary Stuart, adapted by Peter Oswald and directed by Rosalind Ayres, will be presented from December 13th through 17th.
"Elizabeth I is threatened by the survival of her
Catholic cousin, Mary Stuart. Wrestling with her own conscience – and
Mary's popularity – the Queen agonizes over the fate of her cousin amid
fears for her own survival."Roger Guenveur Smith and Adriana Sevan's double bill Two Cities, Two Voices: The Watts Tower Project and Taking Flight, starring the authors, will be performed from January 17th through 21st. The Watts Tower Project, by Smith, "focuses on Simon Rodia,
the Italian immigrant who spent 33 years building his towers – only to
walk away from them, never to return." Taking Flight, by Sevan, " tells the witty and poignant tale of friendship tested by the tragedy of 9/11."
Marsha Mason,
Tony Roberts, and Jobeth Williams will star in
Charles Busch's
The Tale of the Allergist's Wife from February 7th through 11th. "
New York dilettante Marjorie Taub, a middle-aged
doctor's wife, is hooked on culture: Mornings at the Whitney,
afternoons at MOMA, evenings at BAM. Plunged into a mid-life crisis of
Medea-like proportions, she's shaken out of her lethargy by the
reappearance of a fascinating childhood friend."
Rinne Groff's The Ruby Sunrise, presented from March 14th through 18th, will star
Lili Taylor,
Adam Arkin, and Tony Award-winner Harriet Sansom Harris.
The show "begins when a 1920's tomboy feverishly works to
develop her latest invention – a little something called 'television.'
Twenty-five years later, her daughter will stop at nothing to bring her
mother's incredible story to life during TV's Golden Age. But will it
get the truth it deserves?" Jobeth Williams will direct.Arthur Miller's The Man Who Had All the Luck will be presented from April 11th through 15th. It will star Kurtwood Smith. " This fascinating fable focuses on David Beeves, a
young Midwesterner who has good fortune shine on him while passing
others by. When will David's luck run out - and at what price?"Jill Clayburgh and the original New York cast of Keith Bunin's The Busy World is Hushed will return when that show is seen in its West Coast premiere from May 16th through 20th. "Hannah, a widowed Episcopal minister, is hoping to
translate a long-lost gospel when she is challenged by both her
scholarly assistant and her wayward gay son. But when family secrets
are revealed, only the intercession of a stranger can help Hannah find
peace."
Hector Elizondo and Philip Casnoff will star in the L.A. premiere of Melinda Lopez' Sonia Flew from June 13th through 17th. "Sonia, a Cuban exiled during Castro's rise to
power, is forced to relive her tumultuous childhood when her only son
