Maryland Ensemble Theatre is thrilled to announce and welcome Kathryn Hnatio Vicere as the theatre's New Managing Director. Vicere is responsible for the stewardship of MET's continued growth as a local, regional and nationally recognized professional ensemble theatre.

"I was attracted by the company's mission & dedication to the creation of extraordinary theatre by a diverse ensemble of professional artists" Vicere said. "I believe that providing our community with a quality theatrical experience is the best multiplier to change the way we all view the world, and I'm thrilled to join in this important work, with these remarkable group of artisans."

Prior to her appointment at MET, Kathryn served for 9 years at the DC area's oldest children's theatre, Adventure Theatre MTC in progressive capacities: first, as Director of Education, then as Artistic Director of Student Productions, and finally, serving as Director of Development. In addition, Kathryn has over 20 years' experience working in all facets of theatre as a Vocalist, Actor, Director, Master Teaching Artist, as well as in programming and administration.

Born and raised in Frederick, MD., and after receiving her undergraduate degree in Theatre and Directing from Frostburg State University, Vicere spent a decade in New York City where she was fortunate to have performed and directed off-Broadway at The Manhattan Theatre Club, Playwrights Horizons, PharePlay Productions, The Free Shakespeare Project NY, and Aisling Arts, among others. Before returning to the tri-state area Kathryn earned an MA in Educational Theater from New York University.

As a youth Kathryn performed on Frederick stages in numerous musical and theatrical productions including in the title role of Annie, and as a featured singer in a tour with The Temptations.
