The Café Carlyle (located in The Carlyle Hotel, Madison Avenue at 76th Street), will present elegant chanteuse Mary Cleere Haran in a four-week engagement beginning Tuesday, April 4th and continuing through April 29th.

Haran (who last played the Café Carlyle in 2001), will present an evening of music by Rodgers & Hart, Porter, Mercer and Jobim, among others. Also included in her program will be several "cowboy songs" written by Broadway composers including "Don't Fence Me In," "Way Out West," "Jingle Jangle Jingle," and "I'm An Old Cowhand," as well as a tribute to the late Bobby Short. Haran will be accompanied on piano by her musical director Tedd Firth.

"Mary Cleere Haran, one of the most renowned singers of 'The Great American Songbook,' has garnered rave reviews from audiences and critics alike for her witty, sophisticated performances. The San Francisco native, who has been compared to Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Doris Day and Rosemary Clooney, evokes the charm, style and wit of 1930s movie stars like Myrna Loy, Irene Dunne, Jean Arthur and Carole Lombard. She has performed at some of the most prominent venues in the country, including Lincoln Center, Rainbow & Stars, The Russian Tea Room, The Cinegrill in Los Angeles, The Plush Room in San Francisco and the Bellevue Hotel in Philadelphia," state press notes.

Cleere Haran's albums include "This Funny World," "Crazy Rhythm," "There's a Small Hotel," and "This Heart of Mine." She appeared on Broadway in The 1940s Radio Hour and Off-Broadway in Manhattan Music, Swingtime Canteen and Heebie Jeebies. On TV, she had a recurring role on Sidney Lumet's drama "100 Centre Street" on A&E. She is also a respected writer and researcher who has contributed to numerous PBS specials such as "Irving Berlin's America" and "Remembering Bing."

The performance schedule is: Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8:45PM with additional late shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 10:45PM. There is a $50 music charge for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday performances and a $60 music charge for Friday and Saturday performances. Dinner is served from 6:30 PM. There is no minimum.
