Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez, the Tony Award-winning composers of Avenue Q, have just signed on to perform some of their trunk songs in tonight's (October 3rd) Avenue Q Swings! benefit at Birdland (315 West 44 Street).  The evening will begin at 7 PM.

Avenue Q Swings! will be reprised following a sold-out June fundraiser for the Greenwich House Music School.  The musical extravaganza will feature very special guest stars singing songs from the Tony Award-winning musical, Avenue Q in jazz, classical and other surprising arrangements. At press time, the cast includes Broadway performers Barrett Foa, Ann Harada, and Stephanie D'Abruzzo (all of Avenue Q), Christian Anderson (Rent), Karen Mason (Mamma Mia!, Sunset Boulevard) and Christine Pedi (Forbidden Broadway). The musical director and arranger of the show will be composer Mary Ann McSweeney, who plays bass each night in the Avenue Q orchestra on Broadway.

Avenue Q Swings! will be a benefit for the Jazz Foundation of America and the New Orleans Musicians' Clinic, both of which have been helping musicians affected by Hurricane Katrina find temporary and permanent housing, free healthcare, musical instruments and most importantly, employment.

There is a $25 cover and $10 food/drink minimum for Avenue Q Swings! For reservations, call
212-581-3080 or visit www.instantseats.com/birdland10/3.
