Martin Short will appear nationally on "The Today Show" and "Late Show with David Letterman" on Thursday, July 20th.
Short's live interview with "Today Show" host Matt Lauer and Natalie Morales will air at 8:30 a.m. in the program, which airs in New York City on WNBC Channel 4. On "Late Show with David Letterman," which airs in NYC on WCBS at 11:30 p.m., "Short will make another of his highly anticipated and wildly entertaining musical appearances," according to press notes.
Short's television appearances will take place the week before he is to begin performances in his brand new "alternate biography Broadway musical,"
Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me. "The new comedy musical co-written by
Martin Short,
Marc Shaiman and
Scott Wittman (
Hairspray) with additional material by Alan Zweibel (
700 Sundays), features Short in a tour de force guiding us through an improbable version of his life story. Backed by a brilliant cast of top Broadway performers (who constantly steal focus from Mr. Short when he's not looking), Short's transparent play for love and attention asks the burning question, does an autobiography really have to be true?" The show was previously seen in a hit pre-Broadway run in
Chicago.
Directed by Wittman,
Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me opens on Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45th Street) August 17, 2006 with previews starting Saturday, July 29. Visit
