The Tisch School of the Arts at New York University announced today a distinguished list of alumni will attend their annual gala, Ordinary Miraculous: Celebrating Vision, on April 19th at the New York Marriott Marquis. Those scheduled to participate so far include Martin Scorsese and Alec Baldwin. For the past two decades, Dean Mary Schmidt Campbell has served as a pioneer in arts education. This year's gala event will applaud her transformational leadership and celebrate the school's faculty, students and alumni.
"When I walked into film school at Washington Square College in 1960, everything changed. Not only did I understand quickly that I could make movies, I also understood that I needed to. There was no going back. NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, especially the faculty, has helped thousands to believe in themselves. That is what my education gave me and has given others and why I enjoy giving back," said Martin Scorsese. "I have watched Dean Campbell strengthen and grow this extraordinary school over the last 20 years and am honored to join with Alec and others on April 19th to celebrate her accomplishments and her leadership."
Ordinary Miraculous is a celebration of the Tisch community who has altered the cultural landscape and the future change makers who will continue that legacy. The red carpet event will include a champagne reception, live performances and a star studded tribute to Tisch. The evening will be produced and directed by Bill Castellino.
"I am honored to be part of this special celebration of Dean Campbell's 20th year leading Tisch School of the Arts," said Alec Baldwin. "As many of you know, I owe a great deal to this school. Graduating from Tisch was one of the most meaningful experiences of my career. Throughout its history, this school has had a profound impact on our cultural landscape. Under Dean Campbell's leadership, I have seen Tisch's influence on the arts flourish. I will always be proud to call myself a Tisch alum."
Past Tisch galas have included performances from Tony Award® winning Broadway shows such as Spring Awakening and participation from some of the entertainment industry's most celebrated talent such as Billy Crystal, Jerry Seinfeld, Wyclef Jean, Bill Cosby, Debra Messing, Laura Benanti, Elaine Stritch, Raúl Esparza, Rainn Wilson, Matthew Morrison, Joel and Ethan Coen, Tony Kushner, Mariska Hargitay and George Wolfe.
