On the occasion of the 2013 PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature, the Martin E. Segal Theatre Center , Spain Culture New York, and Fundación Autor of the SGAE welcome seven of Spain's most respected Spanish dramatists to the Segal Theatre. Ernesto Caballero, Guillem Clua, Cristina Colmena, Mar Gómez Glez, Borja Ortiz de Gondra, Alfredo Sanzol, and Emilio Williams will preside over readings of their works translated into English, performed by US actors working with US directors under the artistic direction of Julián Mesri (Fuenteovejuna/Repertorio Español) and Segal Center Next Generation Fellow Sarah Rose Leonard. This two-day program of readings (April 29th & 30th), which builds on the Segal Center's past exchanges with countries like Japan and South Korea, will offer insight into the evolution of Spanish identity and culture within the context of the country's current situation.

An anthology of the plays in translation will be published by the Martin E. Segal Theatre Center this spring. Presented in collaboration with Spain Culture New York-Consulate General of Spain, Fundación Autor of the SGAE, and the Instituto Cervantes, the official book launch will take place on May 1st at the Instituto Cervantes New York.

All events in this series will be offered free of charge and open to the public. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. All events are presented at the CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10016. For updates, please visit www.theSegalCenter.org.
