The Martha Graham Dance Company presents the third annual NEXT@Graham festival featuring works by ten choreographers/dance companies in two distinct programs. Performances are Tuesday and Wednesday, May 7-8, at 7pm, at the Martha Graham Studio Theater, 55 Bethune Street (11th floor), in Manhattan.
NEXT@Graham aims to present works from the next generation of exciting choreographers. Artists are selected through a competitive application process overseen by Martha Graham Artistic Director Janet Eilber and a panel that includes choreographers and arts professionals. The works presented in this third edition respond to the Company's season theme: The EVE Project, which broadly explores historic and contemporary gender issues as seen in art, social interaction, politics, and commerce.
One choreographer will be selected to participate in the 2019-20 Graham Resident Artist Program, which provides 30 hours of free rehearsal space, a technical rehearsal, and an additional performance opportunity.
The 2019 NEXT@Graham is produced by choreographer Amanda Hameline.
