On Saturday June 4th, 2011, the Greek America Foundation will host the prestigious, "Gabby Awards", which celebrates Greek America's best and brightest stars from all professional backgrounds. A historic awards presentation will take place in New York City at the Registry Room of the main Ellis Island building-the exact room where millions of immigrants were processed before entering the United States, with a grand reception to follow. The show will feature special appearances by Broadway's Olympia Dukakis (Rose, Social Security), Melina Kanakaredes (Cabaret), Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages), and George Psomas (South Pacific, Broadway Idol).

George Psomas, who was a cast member for the entire run of South Pacific on Broadway at Lincoln Center, including the LIve from Lincoln Center PBS Broadcast, has been chosen to sing a special tribute during the awards ceremony with his co-writer Emanuel Ayvas. Their original song, entitled "The Journey," is written especially for the Gabby Awards and will talk about the journey from the shores of Greece to America to the present day. "It is completely co-written by both of us and talks about the journey of those who came before us and how they have influenced our lives, and how they will continue their journey through us", George said. "I am honored to be a part of the Gabby Awards, especially as a performer, and I know that it will be an evening filled with people who are as honored as I am to be a Greek American; I look forward to hearing their stories and celebrating their success."

Also featured at the event: comedian Zack Galifianakis, actress and writer Tina Fey, True Blood star Theo Alexander, designer John Varvatos, Food Network star Cat Cora, journalist Arianna Huffington, past president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Sid Ganis, President of HBO miniseries Kary Antholis, Chairman and CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment James Gianopulos, right fielder for the Baltimore Orioles Nick Markakis, NHL Hockey Player Chris Chelios, and many more.
