SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark opened on June 14, 2011 at the Foxwoods Theatre as the first show of the 2011-2012 season. Despite opening to poor reviews, the box office has been performng impressively, due in large to the draw of U2's debut musical score.
Today, Spinner.com reports that Foster the People frontman Mark Foster co-authored the SPIDEY anthem, Rise Above, which Bono, The Edge and SPIDER-MAN star Reeve Carney performed live on American Idol.
According to Spinner: "...when U2's Bono and The Edge were seeking a verse writer for one of the songs in their 'Spider-Man' musical, 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,' the powers that be called upon Foster's penchant for pop hooks to help augment their soaring chorus."
Explained Foster in Spinner: "I just wrote a song with Bono that's for the 'Spider-Man' musical!...I was in the studio with a producer called Alex the Kid and we were just songwriting together. We worked on this tune and it turned out it was a Bono/The Edge song that I wrote the verses for."
