Landmark on Main Street kicks off its popular Main Stage Series with the legendary Marilyn Maye in Mercer, The Maye Way on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 8 PM. Landmark thanks our Main Stage Sponsors Susan Isaacs & Elkan Abramowitz, Jane & Martin Schwartz and Dot Slade and program sponsors Kay & Leo Ullman and gratefully acknowledges our Partners in Performing Arts: Harding Real Estate, Pall Corporation and the Town of North Hempstead for their season support.

Marilyn Maye is an elegant jazz singer, a deeply moving interpreter of torch songs, and the funniest ad libber in the business, Maye pays tribute to renowned lyricist Johnny Mercer ("Moon River," "One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)," "That Old Black Magic").

"At a Marilyn Maye performance, on one side of the room are the Broadway and cabaret people, who tend to like their singing big, theatrical, with drama and stage presence. On the other side is the jazz crowd, who want everything hip, cool and understated.
Ms. Maye is the only pop-song diva today who can satisfy both crowds at once."
- Will Friedwald, Wall Street Journal, March 2010

Marilyn Maye appeared for a record-breaking 76 times on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. In October 2010, she will return twice to Lincoln Center's Rose Hall: to receive The Mabel Mercer Award and the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation's Lifetime Achievement Award. And, she will make her Port Washington Debut at Landmark on Main Street.

"Marilyn Maye has everything. She can belt, and she can sing ballads with the kind of warmth that makes your heart smile. She has a theatrical flair that captivates and enthralls, and jazz-spiced chops that can reach notes most singers a third her age can't even hit in their dreams. She's the real deal, the surviving artist of the American popular singer."
Rex Reed, NEW YORK OBSERVER
