The Town Hall, Times Square's landmark concert venue, is pleased to announce its 2009 season lineup. Headliners include two-time Grammy nominee Mariza, Grammy-nominated Celtic and folk fiddler Natalie MacMaster, Grammy-nominated bossa nova singer Bebel Gilberto, Golden Globe nominee Andrea Marcovicci's Birthday Concert and Grammy Award-winning King of Salsa Johnny Pacheco. Also appearing are stars from ABC's Dancing With the Stars and BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, the Doo Wop & Rock N' Roll Reunion, and Romulo's Tango Ensemble, and finally, the return of the popular hit series Broadway by the Year ®.

Artistic and Executive Director Larry Zucker says, "I am especially proud to announce our new season for 2009. There is great music from around the world, including Portugal, Brazil, Russia, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Great Britain and the US, in addition to two evenings of dance and our acclaimed Broadway By The Year® series. There are four wonderful, exciting women who make up the core of this season - Mariza, Bebel Gilberto, Andrea Marcovicci and Natalie MacMaster. I am also thrilled that Johnny Pacheco, ‘the father of salsa,' will be celebrating a major birthday milestone with us at The Town Hall."

Friday, January 23 at 8PM - CHAMPIONS OF THE DANCE
This evening features world professional ballroom champions who appeared on ABC's Dancing with the Stars - including Delyan Terziev and Boriana Deltcheva (who performed with Sheryl Crow) - as well as dancers from BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and PBS's American Ballroom Challenge. They will be performing to the rhythms of the waltz, foxtrot, cha-cha, rumba and more.

Monday, February 23 at 8PM - BROADWAY BY THE YEAR®: MUSICALS OF 1924
Created, written and hosted for The Town Hall by Scott Siegel, the Broadway by the YearTM series takes the audience on a musical journey through the best of the Great White Way. MUSICALS OF 1924 will include music from The Student Prince, Lady, Be Good!, Rose-Marie, Charlot's Revue, The Music Box Revue of 1924 and more, all sung by the great talents of Broadway and cabaret.

Saturday, February 28 at 8PM - MARIZA
After appearances at Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House and the 2004 Athens Olympics (to duet with Sting), two-time Latin Grammy-nominated Fado singer Mariza returns to The Town Hall to showcase her current award-winning album, Terra. Rolling Stone said "Fado is the traditional music of Portugal - proud, austere and deeply melancholic. Mariza is the music's biggest star for a reason: she sings it not as musty nostalgia but as exuberant 21st century pop, with a low, mesmerizing alto that's as commanding as any pop singer today...remaking fado's ancient sadness into a majestic modern sound".

Friday, March 6 at 8PM - THE ST. PETERSBURG MEN'S CHORUS
Making their Town Hall debut on their first American tour, the St. Petersburg Men's Chorus is a Russian musical treasure. Their weekly concerts are among the most popular in St. Petersburg, selling-out regularly. With a repertoire that ranges from 19th century liturgical works to selections by Tchaikovsky and other major composers to Russian folk songs, the ensemble's concerts are a true exploration of Russian music.

Saturday, March 14 at 8PM - NATALIE MACMASTER
Equally at home on the concert stage or at a folk festival, award-winning Cape Breton fiddler Natalie MacMaster is one of the most versatile and exciting young Canadian musicians. In addition to her ten albums and Grammy nominations, MacMaster has collaborated and performed with Alison Krauss, Faith Hill, Carlos Santana, Paul Simon, as well as appeared on Good Morning America, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and The Early Show.

Friday, March 20 at 8PM - HAPPY BIRTHDAY EL MAESTRO! JOHNNY PACHECO
In celebration of his 74th birthday, The Town Hall pays tribute to Grammy winner and nine-time nominee, Johnny "El Maestro" Pacheco, in Happy Birthday El Maestro! A Birthday Concert Celebration of a Legendary Life in Music. Throughout his 40-year career, Johnny Pacheco has collaborated with such legendary Latin music artists as Celia Cruz, Hector Lavoire and Tito Puente, as well as launched the career of many salsa stars with the creation of Fania Records and Fania All-Stars. This star-studded concert features performances of his greatest hits performed by El Maestro himself and his orchestra with special guest artists to be announced. Co-produced by Arcos Communications, the concert also benefits teenagers who want to pursue a career in the musical arts.

Step back in time for a night of solid gold hits with artists including The Chiffons with original member Judy Craig (One Fine Day, He's So Fine), Kenny Vance and the Planotones (Cara Mia, Looking For An Echo), Milton Love and the Solitaires (Walking Along, The Angel Sang), Cleveland Still and the Dubs (Couth This Be Magic, Don't Ask Me To Be Lonely), Emil Stucchio and the Classics (Til Then, P.S. Join three-time Oscar winner and six-time Tony nominee Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) and Grammy winner Julie Gold (From a Distance), along with other noted composers including Francesca Blumenthal (Life Is Not Like the Movies), John Bucchino (A Catered Affair), Craig Carnelia (Sweet Smell of Success), Babbie Green (‘Bye Now) and Christine Lavin (On A Winter's Night) as they celebrate Andrea Marcovicci's (Trapper John, M.D.) dedication to the Great American Songbook. Ms. Marcovicci will perform classic standards from Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer and more. Her mother, Helen Marcovicci, will join her to celebrate her own 90th birthday. Grammy-nominated bossa nova singer Bebel Gilberto returns to The Town Hall as part of the 2009 JVC Jazz Festival. The daughter of Brazilian guitarist João Gilberto, Bebel sings breezy bossa nova with acoustic guitars, Latin tones and electronic flourishes in both English and Portuguese.
