Oscar-winner Marcia Gay Harden has boarded FIFTY SHADES OF GREY.

According to Deadline, Harden has signed on to 'play Dr. Grace Trevelyan Grey, the adoptive physician mama of emotionally damaged billionaire Christian Grey and his siblings Mia and Elliot. Dr. Grace Grey is the pediatrician who cares for 4-year-old Christian when his birth mother (or "the crack whore," as Fifty Shades readers know her) dies. She's also the one who inadvertently introduces Christian to his cougar lover Elena from whom he learns his BDSM ways.'

Universal Pictures and Focus Features recently announced that they will delay the opening of Sam Taylor-Johnson's adaptation of EL James' racy best-seller FIFTY SHADES OF GREY from its original August 1, 2014 release date to February 13, 2015.

The film has come up against obstacles in recent months including the re-casting of the lead role of Christian Grey. The film's original star, SONS OF ANARCHY's Charlie Hunnam, dropped out for personal reasons. Jamie Dornan will now take his place opposite Dakota Johnson, set to play Anastasia Steele. True Blood star Luke Grimes will portray Elliot Grey, the brother of Christian, while Eloise Mumford will play Anastasia's roommate and Rita Ora will play Grey's adopted sister sister.

Filming on FIFTY SHADES began yesterday.

In 1993, Harden debuted on Broadway in the role of Harper Pitt in Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA. The role earned her critical acclaim and she received a Tony Award nomination (Best Featured Actress in a Play).

In 2009, Harden returned to Broadway in GOD OF CARNAGE and received a Tony Award for her work in the play. Harden's work in film includes MYSTIC RIVER, POLLOCK, and INTO THE WILD. She's also appeared on innumerous television shows, including LAW & ORDER: SVU, DAMAGES, and ROYAL PAINS. She can currently be seen on ABC's freshman comedy TROPHY WIFE.
