Paul Grellong's play Manuscript will close at the Daryl Roth Theatre (101 E. 15th St. on Union Square) on Sunday, August 14th following the 7 PM performance; the show will have played 13 previews and 72 performances in its limited engagement run.
Directed by Bob Balaban, Manuscript stars Jeffrey Carlson, Marin Ireland and Pablo Schreiber. "When a manuscript is discovered that can guarantee success, three ambitious people set into motion a manipulative quest for vengeance and fame in the calculating comedy." Produced by Daryl Roth and Scott Rudin, the show opened on Sunday, June
12th. The New Yorker called the piece, "A highbrow romp that turns
into a cold-blooded revenge drama."Actor-director Balaban received a Tony nomination for his performance in 1979's The Inspector General, and has also appeared on Broadway in Plaza Suite, Some of My Best Friends and and Speed-the-Plow and off-Broadway in Romance, The Exonerated, Three Sisters and many more; he also directed Addicted at the Zipper Theatre. An accomplished film actor, he has appeared in A Mighty Wind, Gosford Park, Ghost World, Deconstructing Harry, Waiting for Guffman, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and many more. Carlson's Broadway credits include Taboo, TartuffeThe Goat, or Who is Sylvia?, while Ireland has appeared off-Broadway in Sabina, The Harlequin Studies, Far Away and Nocturne. Schreiber is making his off-Broadway debut.
Performances are Mondays, Wednesdays through Friday at 8 PM and Saturday and Sunday at 3 pm and 7 pm. Tickets, which are $35 and $65, are available at Telecharge at www.telecharge.com.
