The Manitoba Theatre Centre is opening its 51st season with an enchanting adaptation of Jane Austen's beloved romantic comedy, Pride and Prejudice.

Playing at the John Hirsch Theatre at the MTC Mainstage from October 16 to November 8, this classic tale of romantic mishap unfolds in class-conscious early 19th century England. In a game of status versus common sense, the witty, independent Elizabeth Bennet meets her match in the arrogant but honourable Darcy. Just when it seems love can conquer all, pride and prejudice prove worthy opponents.

Pride and Prejudice features Mairi Babb as Elizabeth Bennet and Matthew Edison as Mr. Darcy. Rounding out the cast are Evelyne Anderson, Jane Burpee, James Durham, Richard Hurst, Matt Kippen, Amy Lee, Derek Leenhouts, Jenn Lyon, Rob McLaughlin, Peter Mooney, Carson Nattrass, Sherry Phillips, Daria Puttaert, Jan Alexandra Smith, Marina Stephenson Kerr, Charlene Van Buekenhout, David Warburton and Stefanie Wiens.

Led by Director Robb Paterson, the artistic team features Set Designer Brian Perchaluk, Costume Designer Judith Bowden, Lighting Designer Scott Henderson, Composer Danny Carroll, Choreographer Jan Alexandra Smith, Assistant to the Director Ben Wiebe, Stage Manager Karyn Kumhyr, Assistant Stage Managers Gail Henderson Brown and Leslie Sidley, and Apprentice Stage Manager Monika Seiler.

Ticket prices for Pride and Prejudice range from $16.00 to $62.00. Pay What You Can performances sponsored by Sun Life Financial.
