The world premiere production of David Lindsay-Abaire's RABBIT HOLE begins rehearsals today at Manhattan Theatre Club. Directed by Daniel Sullivan (Brooklyn Boy, Proof), the production will begin previews on Thursday, January 12 for a Thursday, February 2 opening at the Biltmore Theatre (261 West 47th Street).
The cast will feature (in alphabetical order): Tyne Daly (Nat), John Gallagher Jr. (Jason), Mary Catherine Garrison (Izzy), Cynthia Nixon (Becca), and John Slattery (Howie).
Becca (Nixon) and Howie Corbett (Slattery) have everything they could want, until a life-shattering accident turns their world upside down, and leaves the couple drifting perilously apart. Becca, who must also cope with the distractions of her reckless sister Izzy (Garrison), and their opinionated mother, Nat (Daly), takes solace in her unlikely friendship with a neighborhood teenager, Jason (Gallagher), who might provide the key to lead her back from the darkest of places.
The play is a bittersweet drama about finding hope in the lowest moments of our lives, and the paths we take to return to the light of day.
The play will mark the Broadway debut of playwright David Lindsay-Abaire, who has been represented at MTC with productions of Fuddy Meers, Wonder of the World, and Kimberly Akimbo.
The creative team for RABBIT HOLE includes: John Lee Beatty (Set Design), Jennifer von Mayrhauser (Costume Design), Christopher Akerlind (Lighting Design), and John Gromada (Sound Design and Original Music).
