Manhattan Movement & Arts Center Presents 'mmac Summer Kids 2012' Workshops, Now thru 8/3

Manhattan Movement & Arts Center announces mmac Summer Kids 2012, a performance workshop for children ages 3-12. mmac Summer Kids will take place from today, July 9- August 3, 2012. Children ages 5-12 will begin each day with Broadway, Here I Come! and rotate each day with two performance based classes: Ballet, Capoeira, Zumba, Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern, or Yoga. Children ages 3-4 will begin the day with Movement & Melodies (Intro to Drama) followed by Dance and Arts.

Broadway, Here I Come! (5-12 yrs)
Children will learn to sing, dance and act! This intensive rotates children through dance choreography, acting and musical theater training, vocal exercises, and audition techniques. Children will also participate in a mock audition to help prepare them for future auditions. The intensive will culminate in a final performance for family and friends.

Capoeira - Afro-Brazilian Martial Arts (5-12 yrs)
This fast-paced martial arts incorporates a series of swift and powerful movements performed to Brazilian string music in what is known as a "roda" or Capoeira circle. Basic movements consist of circular kicks, cartwheels and whirling handstands on the floor. Students will enjoy ample opportunities to explore self-expression through this combination of martial arts, dance, and will create accompanying music to this art form.
