Plays, cabaret, comedy, and dance will be part of Makor's October line-up.
A New York Musical Theatre Festival concert of
Tales of Custard the Dragon will be presented on Sunday, October 1st at 12 PM and 2 PM. Based on the Ogden Nash story, it features music by Brad Ross, lyrics by Danny Whitman, and an adaptation by Mary Hall Surface. "Join Custard the Dragon along with his friends Ink, Blink and Mustard as they embark on a musical journey in which our most unlikely hero finds the courage to rescue his beloved Belinda from a menacing Pirate and a wicked Knight." This concert is appropriate for ages 5 and up. Tickets are $15.
"Modo Fusion Lounge" will be performed on Monday, October 9th at 7:30 PM. "Broadway performer and celebrated choreographer
Francesca Harper stages a kinetic dance work, backed by a top-notch band. Harper has appeared in
Fosse, The Producers and
The Frogs, and is currently performing in
The Color Purple on Broadway." Tickets are $15.
On Tuesday, October 10th at 7 PM, Makor will host "
Jamie McGonnigal Presents Green II." "The musical theater impresario is back with another lineup of veteran Broadway vocalists, performing songs by the best and brightest of today's musical theater composers." The evening replaces the show that was previously announced for September 17th. Tickets are $20.
An evening centered around
Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris will take place on Wednesday, October 18th at 7:30 PM. "Join the cast, musical director and producer of the current revival of
Jacques Brel is Alive and Well...The evening includes musical performances, a discussion about the music of Jacques Brel and the process of creating on this Drama Desk Award-nominated production, as well as a question-and-answer session." Tickets are $20.
On Sunday, Oct 22nd at 7 PM, "New Faces in Comedy" will be performed. "Sharon Klein presents three hot new standup comedians from network television, movies and well-known clubs around the country." The comedians include Tina Giorgi, Marion Grodin, and Dave Konig, all of whom have varied stand-up and TV credits. Tickets are $15.
"Radio Plays" will be presented on Monday, October 30 at 7 PM. "More exciting than a podcast, better written than a sitcom and featuring a multi-talented cast and off-color sound effects, Makor's evening of short radio plays ranges from hard-boiled noir to romance and comedy. Scripts include Lawrence Holcomb's
The Skyscraper, about a love triangle played out on the scaffolds of a construction site." Tickets are $15.
