A reading of Jeffrey Solomon's play De Novo, presented by Houses on the Moon Theater Company, will be presented on Sunday, February 18th at 7 PM.
The "still-in-development documentary play, is about the issue of asylum in the United States. De Novo focuses on four true stories of refugees from around the world whose pleas for relief from persecution have been denied. The piece, which weaves together interviews, trail transcripts and documentary material, puts a human face on the many aliens in deportation proceedings while allowing the public the opportunity to judge these cases for themselves. The play gets its name from 'de novo review,' a legal term meaning to give a case a complete rehearing or fresh look. The post-show discussion presents an opportunity for audience members to ask questions, provide feedback and play a role in the play's development. Houses on the Moon is a theater company devoted to the development of socially significant plays and musicals." Tickets are $10.
