The New York Daily News' theater critic Joe Dziemianowicz doesn't usually review high school productions. But with Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leon (Lola) currently starring as 'Betty Rizzo' in LaGuardia High School's production of GREASE, he made an exception.
"Lola had comic chops and confidence on stage. She delivered Rizzo's zingers with hands on her hips and a lot of attitude," he wrote. "But Rizzo needs to sing and dance, too. And Lola, who was terrific at both, found the comedy in her Act I solo, 'Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee.' She also dug for something deeper and found it in 'There are Worse Things I Could Do.'"

Madonna was, of course, in attendance at the show and delivered a bouquet of white roses to her daughter following the show, where the two shared a kiss.
GREASE originally debuted on Broadway in 1972, starring Adrienne Barbeau as 'Rizzo'. The role was later portrayed by Rosie O'Donnell in the 1994 revival, and Jenny Powers in 2007. The iconic 1978 film, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, featured Stockard Channing as the misunderstood bad girl.
