Madonna, who has tackled just about everything else in show business, has been setting her sights on the musical stage.

The pop diva is apparently in talks to star in a new musical on West End stages, although she is moot on the details. There is some talk, however, that she might be collaborating with Andrew Lloyd Webber, with whom she worked when she starred in the 1996 film version of his
Evita. "I'm planning on hooking up again with a musical mentor who I admire so much," she has said.

In 2002, Madonna made her West End debut in a straight play--Up for Grabs. While the critics weren't rapturous about her performance, the play was a sell-out hit. "
I never missed a performance and above all, I loved it so much," she stated.

Madonna appeared on Broadway in David Mamet's Hollywood satire Speed-the-Plow in 1988. One of the most successful music artists of all time and a sexual iconoclast who has shaped pop culture for over two decades, Madonna's albums include Like a Prayer, Ray of Light, The Immaculate Collection and Music, and she has appeared on screen in The Next Best Thing, Swept Away, Evita, A League of Their Own, Bloodhounds of Broadway, Body of Evidence, Desperately Seeking Susan and Dick Tracy (in which she crooned the songs of Stephen Sondheim).
