Wicked2.jpg" vspace="10" width="300"/>Madame Alexander and the Broadway hit Wicked have conjured up a line of Wicked dolls.

"Madame Alexander brings the characters of Glinda and Elphaba to life, creating dresses, inspired by the outstanding costuming and design from the 2004 Tony award-winning musical, to capture their 'bewitching' features. Madame Alexander, always at the forefront as to what is current with trends in fashion and pop culture, is the perfect partner to bring a collection of dolls from the stage of the smash hit to collectors and Broadway fans," according to press materials.

"Madame Alexander is wickedly excited about this partnership," said Gale Jarvis, President, Alexander Doll Company. "The hand-crafted dolls, in their intricate and beautiful dresses, will surely spellbind any doll collector or Wicked fan."

"Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Oz, continues to be one of the most popular shows on Broadway. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two unlikely friends end up as the 'Wicked Witch of the West' and 'Glinda the Good Witch' makes for the most spellbinding musical in years.

Elphaba, a 10' Coquette, is a vision of wonderfully wicked darkness. She has green tinged skin, green eyes and black hair that is pulled into a low ponytail. She wears a black pointed hat on her head. Elphaba's two-piece costume adds to her witchy portrait. The top, a corseted shirt with stitched details and shredded sleeves, is made from burgundy and black lace. It dips down on an A-line skirt that features rows of gathered fabric made from a magical mélange of black and iridescent burgundy, blue and green organza, silvery white and black lace, and black satin. Beneath, she has black panty tights and black ankle boots.

Glinda, traditionally known as the good witch, certainly presents a brighter picture. The sunlight to Elphaba's darkness, Glinda wears a two-piece, sparkly blue lamé and tulle dress with a stand up collar. The corset features a square neckline that is brilliant with blue and silver sequins. Her skirt is made from layers of petals that also shine with sequins and lamé. Glisenette panty tights and matching shoes complete her ensemble. Glinda's shoulder length gold curls and greenish gray eyes, when combined with a sparkling tiara and wish-granting wand, truly create an irresistible picture of Glinda's magical charm."

The Alexander Doll Company, a New York-based company, is now celebrating its 84th Anniversary, continuing the tradition, elegance and innovation of Madame Alexander dolls with a full line of fine quality, handcrafted collectible dolls, fashion dolls, baby dolls and play dolls.

Wicked features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, with direction by Joe Mantello and choreography by Wayne Cilento.  The show is also a hit in Chicago, on tour and in London.
