MY ASS (IN THE WORLD): A TRUE STORY OF LOVE, WAR, TALIBAN... AND DIRTY LAMBADA-DANCING swivels and shakes into NYC this August, as an official selection of the 19th Annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC.
Pakistan, 2009. A lover's hand traces the naked curve of Jasmine's bum. Outside the window, the CIA blindly seeks Bin Laden and Taliban blow up the UN. Jasmine is now a humanitarian, helping refugees flee violence all over the world. But no matter where she goes (Darfur; Brazil; Pakistan); who she meets (refugees; Emergency Cowboys); or what she survives (bombs; hostage-takers), her abundant ass*ets are her constant travel companion.
To one Emergency Cowboy, it's a peach. To men on the streets of Senegal, it's like sweet rice porridge. To the Afghan boy holding a gun to Jasmine's head, it's collateral damage. Like the refugee women she interviews in desert camps, Jasmine is running to escape the violence that scars women's bodies the world over. But she'll never stop running until she can learn to embrace her butt in all its sacred glory.
Jasmine Pittenger is a global humanitarian, award-winning writer, and performer. As a kid raised in a hippy barn in Oregon, she mapped out her globe-trotting future with a National Geographic clutched in one sticky hand and a Harlequin romance novel in the other. Performing MY ASS (IN THE WORLD) is the most fun Jasmine has had since a zebra faced her off from the landing strip - just before her tiny plane touched down in the Masai Mara.
