heatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) has secured licensing rights for the new pop musical, DO YOU WANNA DANCE?

Written by leading choral/educational composers and educators Mark Brymer and John Jacobson, DO YOU WANNA DANCE? is the first show in the duo's Jukebox Musicals brand created especially for schools' theatre departments. Complete with a performance accompaniment CD, the show is a '90s-themed jukebox style musical featuring such well-known songs as "Dancing In The Streets," "Neutron Dance," "Bust A Move," "Walking On Sunshine," and "Boogie Wonderland."

In this musical romp, singing and dancing is what draws everyone to the town center of SnapHappy to meet Mayor Pete's new wife, Mona Lightfoot. But after she literally pulls the plug on the May Day celebration, the politics of dancing start to take the Snap out of Happy. All of the SnapHappy kids are shocked when they hear that a new "Dance Tax" has been levied on anyone who dances in town.

"Developing an age appropriate script was a key element John and I wanted to bring to DO YOU WANNA DANCE?," stated Mark Brymer. "We also wanted characters that were funny and infectious, with plenty of parts for everyone to be involved. By choosing hit songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, the majority of the audience knows all the songs. They laugh, clap along, and sometimes even sing, to the surprise of the young performers."

"The pairing of Music Theatre International and Jukebox Musicals to create and license new, youth-friendly musicals to brighten the lives of young performers and their audiences is like a Double Dream come true," said John Jacobson. "DO YOU WANNA DANCE? is perfect for everyone as it includes a totally slammin', fully produced accompaniment CD, a reference recording, and very singable SATB vocal parts with practice CDs for each vocal part. Instrumental parts and piano conductor scores for the entire show are also available for those theatrical groups wanting to use a small live orchestra."

"John and Mark are educational theatre veterans and have created a show that we are confident will introduce even more teachers and students to musical theatre. The song keys have been adjusted to be easily sung by teen voices and the popular score is available with performance accompaniment tracks. Our customers are going to have a lot of fun producing DO YOU WANNA DANCE? on their schools' stages," stated Drew Cohen, President of MTI Worldwide.
