MTC's Fall 2015 Benefit Honors Christine Baranski; Nathan Lane, Meryl Streep and More to Appear

Manhattan Theatre Club will honor two-time Tony Award winner, Emmy Award winner, and longtime MTC collaborator and board member Christine Baranski tonight, November 2, as part of its Fall Benefit at 583 Park Avenue (63rd Street and Park Avenue).

The evening will feature appearances by Baranski friends and colleagues Walter Bobbie (On Your Toes at Encores!), Alan Cumming ("The Good Wife"), Cherry Jones, Nathan Lane (Lips Together, Teeth Apart at MTC), Julianna Margulies ("The Good Wife"), Rob Marshall (Into The Woods, Chicago), Paul Rudnick (Regrets Only at MTC), Meryl Streep (Into the Woods, Mamma Mia!), Max von Essen (Mame at the Kennedy Center), and more.

Richard Maltby Jr. (Ain't Misbehavin') is helping to conceive and will direct the evening. The creative team will include John Lee Beatty, Ben Stanton, Dan Gerhard, Eric Svejcar, and Todd Cross.

Baranski has been associated with Manhattan Theatre Club since she first performed there in Sally and Marsha in 1982. Since then, she has starred in four additional MTC plays (Regrets Only; The Loman Family Picnic; Lips Together, Teeth Apart; and It's Only a Play) and recently celebrated her 30th anniversary on MTC's Board of Directors.

One of the entertainment industry's most honored actresses, Baranski has achieved acclaim in every medium in which she has performed. She is an Emmy Award, two-time Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Obie Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and American Comedy Award winner.

A native of Buffalo, she attended the Juilliard School. She received her big break in Tom Stoppard's hit Broadway comedy, The Real Thing, directed by Mike Nichols, for which she won her first Tony Award.

She went on to earn her second Tony Award for her performance in Neil Simon's Rumors. She also appeared in Boeing-Boeing; Hurlyburly; The House of Blue Leaves; Encores productions of Follies; Promises, Promises; and On Your Toes and the Kennedy Center productions of Sweeney Todd and Mame.

Baranski is currently starring in the hit CBS series, "The Good Wife" (six Emmy nominations), and has appeared on multiple episodes of "The Big Bang Theory" (three Emmy nominations). Other television credits include "Cybill" (Emmy Award, three additional Emmy nominations, three Golden Globe nominations), and "Frasier" (Emmy nomination). Television movies include Dance with the White Dog; Playing for Time, and Eloise at Christmas.

Her film credits include Into the Woods; Mamma Mia!; Chicago; How the Grinch Stole Christmas; Bowfinger; Bulworth; Cruel Intentions; The Birdcage; Reversal of Fortune; Legal Eagles; The Ref; 9 ½ Weeks and Jeffrey.

Sue Bovenkerk Slager, Sharon Sullivan, and Lisa Towbin are co-chairs of the event.

The Fall Benefit begins with cocktails at 7 PM followed by dinner and the performance. All proceeds from this annual event will support MTC's mission as a leading non-profit theatre company producing contemporary plays on and off-Broadway, nurturing new talent through their Artistic Development Program, and developing the next generation of theatregoers and theatre makers through their esteemed Education Program.
